Differences Between SPCC and Q235

SPCC refers to commonly used cold-rolled carbon steel sheets and strips, equivalent to China's Q195-235A grade. SPCC features a smooth, aesthetically pleasing surface, low carbon content, excellent elongation properties, and good weldability. Q235 ordinary carbon steel plate is a type of steel material. The “Q” denotes the yield strength of this material, while the subsequent “235” indicates its yield value, approximately 235 MPa. Yield strength decreases with increasing material thickness. Due to its moderate carbon content, Q235 offers balanced comprehensive properties—strength, plasticity, and weldability—making it the most widely used steel grade. The primary differences between SPCC and Q235 lie in their standards, manufacturing processes, and application types, as detailed below:

1. Standards: Q235 follows the GB national standard, while SPCC adheres to the JIS Japanese standard.
2. Processing: SPCC is cold-rolled, resulting in a smooth, aesthetically pleasing surface with excellent elongation properties. Q235 is typically hot-rolled, resulting in a rougher surface.
3. Application types: SPCC is extensively used in automotive manufacturing, electrical appliances, railway vehicles, aerospace, precision instruments, food canning, and other fields.
Q235 steel plates are primarily employed in mechanical and structural components operating at lower temperatures.
