Difference in production process
Galvanized strip pipe (pre galvanized steel pipe) is a kind of welded pipe made by welding with galvanized steel strip as raw material. The steel strip itself is coated with a layer of zinc before rolling, and after welding into a pipe, some rust prevention treatment (such as zinc coating or spray paint) is simply done.
Hot galvanized pipe is a welded black pipe (ordinary welded pipe) as a whole immersed in several hundred degrees of high-temperature zinc liquid, so that both the internal and external surfaces of the steel pipe are uniformly wrapped with a thick layer of zinc. This zinc layer not only combines firmly, but also forms a dense protective film, effectively preventing corrosion.
Advantages and disadvantages of both
Galvanized strip steel pipe:
Advantages:
Lower cost, cheaper
Smooth surface, better appearance
Suitable for occasions with not too high corrosion protection requirements
Disadvantages:
Poor corrosion resistance in welded parts
Thin zinc layer, easy to rust in outdoor use
Short service life, generally 3-5 years will be rusting problems
Hot-dip galvanized steel pipe:
Advantages:
Thick zinc layer
Strong anti-corrosion performance, suitable for outdoor or humid environment
Long service life, up to 10-30 years range
Disadvantages:
Higher cost
Slightly rough surface
Welded seams and interfaces need additional attention to anti-corrosion treatment
